Meet the Team

Jenna

Hello, my name is Jenna, the owner and manager here at Explorers.

I oversee the day-to-day operation of the nursery, making sure everything runs smoothly. Being a mum of five and a farmer’s wife, I have a great passion for outdoor learning. I am proud to have gained my Forest School Leader qualification, and enjoy delivering sessions and teaching new skills to both children and staff in our woodland area.

I am hands-on in my role and love spending time in each room, challenging, reflecting and learning along the way. Working in this way gives me a unique insight into all aspects of the nursery, and most importantly allows me to get to know each and every one of our Explorers’ children individually.

Famer Carl

Hello, my name is Carl, also known as ‘Farmer Carl ’, to the children. I am married to Jenna, the nursery manager and owner. I work on the farm and the children often tell me all about their adventures when I see them out and about on the farm. They are always eager to know what I am doing, and never cease to amaze me with their questions about my machines and the animals.

Claire

Hello, my name is Claire and I am the Deputy Manager with responsibility as the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) at Explorers. I am very passionate about this role, supporting all staff to ensure each child’s individual needs are met.

Being a Forest School Leader, I run weekly sessions and enjoy being able to teach new skills and inspire our children to enjoy their time outdoors as much as I do. I have a particular interest in speech and language development, and I am committed to closing the word gap, supporting staff and families to raise strong, confident communicators.

Hello, my name is Annie, I am the Chef here at Explorers. 

Babies Room

Joanne

Hello, my name is Joanne (or Jo-Jo to the children!) and I am Senior Lead in Babies Room. I have worked across all ages during my twenty years in childcare, but when I joined Explorers eight years ago, I joined as Babies Room Lead as that’s my true passion. I work alongside a strong team to give the best care; my main priority is ensuring the babies in my care are loved and cared for like my own. Working in Babies Room is not a job, it’s a passion; being part of those first milestones is a privilege that I am grateful for. I have always loved the great outdoors, being a mum of two has seen me on many adventures and now I get to be outdoors everyday being adventurous with my little friends!

Lauren

Hello, my name is Lauren. I have worked across all ages during my six years at Explorers. After becoming a parent myself, I realised my passion was in Babies Room, where I work alongside a strong team to give the best care and deliver a range of exciting and at times messy opportunities to our youngest learners! I believe strongly in the benefits of outdoor learning and I’m committed to ensuring Explorers’ babies learn and develop in our outstanding outdoor environment.

Kelly

Hello, my name is Kelly and I work at Explorers on a supply basis. As a mum of three, I have lots of experience caring for young children. I love being part of the Explorers’ family, as it allows me to follow my love of being outdoors and my passion for watching children develop on their own journey.  Explorers has given me the opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge; every day at Explorers is a day for learning, and for me there is no better way than learning with the little people we are so lucky to work with.

Eve

Hello, my name is Eve and I am an Early Years Apprentice currently working in Preschool. I am passionate about supporting children to learn and develop new skills, and excited to start my career in childcare at Explorers. It is amazing getting to know the children, seeing how they learn and their unique personalities. My favourite area in Preschool is the playdough area where I have recently been working with the children to create their own playdough; this is just one of an endless range of activities that support children’s development through the fundamentals of learning.

Tweenies Room

Emily

Hello, my name is Emily and I began my journey working in the Tots Room. However, I have since become involved in an exciting new chapter at Explorers, working alongside Jenna to open the Tweenies Room! I love getting creative, providing the children with a range of experiences to explore using their senses. Working at Explorers, I’m also privileged to spend so much of my time outdoors. I especially enjoy participating in weekly Forest School sessions, helping around the fire and using the tools in the woodland area to support our children to begin to develop lifelong skills.

Amy

Hello, my name is Amy, and I began my journey as an Early Years Apprentice.  I loved working in all of the rooms, but found that working with our youngest Explorers was what I was most passionate about. I have since become involved in developing and opening the Tweenies room!  I am ecstatic about this new challenge and I think Emily and I will make an awesome team, as our combined skills will ensure that our Tweenies never stop being curious about learning.

Caitlin

Hello, my name is Caitlin and I am an apprentice. I have recently finished a degree in Performing Arts, and I am a very creative person. I have always had an interest in working with children and this, combined with the skills I have developed through my degree, will allow me to bring some wonderful things to Explorers. I look forward to embarking on my new chapter and getting to know the Explorers’ family both big and small!

Tots Room

Megan

Hello, my name is Megan and I am Senior Lead in Tots Room. I originally started my journey here at Explorers in Preschool, however I have now progressed my role to become a senior member of staff in Tots Room. Having experience working with a range of ages, I understand the importance of having an inviting and enabling environment that stimulates learning and creates opportunities for the children in my care. One of the most rewarding aspects of working with our Tots, is seeing them develop confidence as they move from support to being able to complete tasks themselves. I also enjoy participating in Tots Adventures each week, which exposes children to a range of experiences.

Georgia

Hello, my name is Georgia. Originally, I joined Explorers as a student in Babies Room, however I have since progressed to become a member of the team and now work in Tots Room. The time I spent in Babies Room allowed me to understand the fundamental principles of learning, which I now use to influence my current practice. Using an ‘in-the-moment’ approach allows me to use children’s interests to not only support their development, but to challenge and extend their skills further.

Kate

Hello, my name is Kate and I work at Explorers on a supply basis. Explorers is such a wonderful setting and whilst I study Photography at college, I get to use and explore my creative skills with our Tots each week.

Hello, my name is Beth and I work at Explorers on a supply basis. I absolutely love being a part of the Explorers’ team: every day brings with it something new and exciting! I have worked in all rooms, and find playing and learning alongside all ages of children very rewarding.

Emily

Hello, my name is Emily and I am Senior Lead in Preschool. I am also Curriculum Lead at Explorers, a role that I am very passionate about, as it enables me to support all staff to create an enabling environment in order to secure the best outcomes for our learners. Being a Forest School Leader, I run weekly sessions with Preschool and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to teach new skills and inspire our children in our first-class outdoor learning environment. Since becoming a mum myself, I understand the vital importance of parent and child groups; like so many, I was unable to attend these due to restrictions in the last two years. As such, I now run weekly sessions here at Explorers, with the intention of helping our local community reconnect with opportunities that support children’s development and provide an essential social link for parents and carers.

Hollie

Hello, my name is Hollie and I am a senior practitioner in Preschool. I am also Behaviour Management Lead, working with children, families and staff to achieve the best outcomes. I love getting to know each of the children I work with, their interests and their families as this enables me to support and challenge their development. Working in Preschool is incredibly rewarding, and I feel such pride when I see a young learner achieve their goals, knowing that I have aided them in their quest.

Harriet

Hello, my name is Harriet and I am a senior practitioner in Preschool. I have a wealth of knowledge and I am passionate about ‘in-the-moment’ learning, as it enables me to share unique learning opportunities with our young learners. My favourite aspect of Preschool is that each day presents a new challenge; I am so lucky to be part of so many children’s journeys! I understand the important role that outdoor learning plays in child development, and I have fully embraced our Forest School sessions. Soon I will be embarking on a new challenge: Forest School Leader training – I can’t wait!

Ninah

Hello, my name is Ninah. I am a great believer in the holistic benefits that learning outdoors can offer, and this is what drew me to Explorers. Whether it’s a walk through the acres of fields, watching Farmer Carl use his machinery to wrap hay bales, or even witnessing an animal being born; I simply love how being present on a working farm can bring so many exciting and engaging experiences to our young learners’ lives.

Stacey

Hello, my name is Stacey and I am an Early Years Apprentice currently working in Preschool. I am a mum to two young children, which has given me a first-hand experience of childcare as I have watched my own girls grow and develop. My passion for child development has influenced my recent career change from retail to childcare, and I am relishing the challenge! I feel such a sense of pride when I see a child using a skill independently, which I have previously demonstrated and supported them with. My favourite activity at Explorers is Forest School as it is wonderful to see the children flourish in such a unique environment.

Louise

Hello, my name is Louise and I have recently joined the Explorers’ family in Preschool. I am an experienced practitioner having previously worked in a range of settings, and I am thoroughly enjoying developing new ideas with the Preschool team! I love nothing better than being creative, and feel privileged to support our young learners to develop new skills. We have a sewing area in Preschool, and I have shared some beautiful moments with our young learners as I have supported them to develop sewing skills.

Sophie

Hello, my name is Sophie and I am an experienced practitioner in Preschool. Having previously worked in a variety of settings, I have been able to bring new ideas to Preschool and love working with the team to create exciting learning opportunities for the children in our care. I am passionate about the enabling environment and find joy in adapting both the indoor and outdoor learning environment to support and challenge the children. I love being part of the Explorers’ family as it allows me to follow my passion for being outdoors; being located on a farm provides so many unique experiences, such as watching calves and lambs being born!

Lauren

Hello, my name is Lauren and I am currently on placement at Explorers. I originally joined the Explorers’ family as an apprentice. However, circumstances led me on a different journey and I now have an amazing little boy! After becoming a parent, I went back to college and gained my Level 3 and 4 Childcare qualifications, and I am currently working towards my Level 5. I love working in Preschool and adore how children and staff all develop holistically.
