Our baby room provides care for children aged between 0-2. It is a large space ideal for providing plenty of room for little ones to move freely and support them in achieving those first precious milestones such as their first steps. As part of our hidden curriculum baby room embed certain aspects to make up the rhythm of their day. If you walked into our baby room you would always hear a range of wonderful language being clearly modelled and repeated as well as an undercurrent of singing and stories. The song bag is an important part of their daily routine as well as reading their book of the week and other stories. Repetition is key to supporting learning in baby room.

Messy and sensory experiences are also provided daily and are a big part of the holistic opportunities the children have access to in this room. The children are gently encouraged to use all of their senses to explore a range of textures such as jelly, slime, foam, flour, pasta, frozen berries and so much more. Our skilled practitioners are always coming up with new experiences taking into account each child's individual needs and any allergies. As well as this the children are offered imaginative mark making experiences and daily sand and water exploration.

Care routines such as nappy changing is carried out throughout the day with patience and kindness as our staff build those first important relationships giving children confidence and allowing them to feel safe and secure to explore in their new surroundings.

Snacks and mealtimes are a social occasion where children are encouraged to be independent and have a go at feeding themselves as they eat a varied,  nutritional diet. Staff work closely with families and children when weaning, going with their chosen technique and pace.

The environment is carefully planned and has a calm, natural, home from home atmosphere with a range of exciting heuristic resources. There are stacking and posting resources as well as simple puzzles designed to encourage critical thinking and problem solving from an early age. There are real and natural objects in the environment such as fruit and vegetables pinecones, hats and scarves all to spark curiosity, develop language and lay the foundation of early imagination skills.

We have a snug, cosy area which is a safe space for children to be cradled to sleep, rest or just have some special time for stories, cuddles and songs. As well as being equipped for rest and relaxation. The snug area also offers a range of books, a music system for relaxing music or more upbeat dancing and a range of musical instruments to explore.

Outdoor play is vital for a baby's development, the room has access to their own garden space which boasts a large walk-in sand pit, water area, well stocked mud kitchen, soft artificial grass area with pull up bars to gradually develop the children physically from sitting, crawling to walking. There is a cosy wooden hut in the centre of the garden where the children create relationships, share stories, play peek a boo and much more.
